Area Quiz

Last saw around 60 Essex tablers descend on Sebrights Barn quiz in Chelmsford to take part the annual area quiz. Inevitably Tindal 826 was there to mount a serious challenge to this years competition. Turning up however was as good a challenge as we could manage and we finished up in mid table mediocrity. We did however bring a long a new face to table, welcoming John into our table for the first of I am sure many table events to come. Well done to 132 who won again this year!

Our next meeting will be on the 5th of December where we will be at Sainsbury’s in Springfield collecting non-perishable food from members of the public. This will then be given out to a number of organisations over the Christmas period including homelessness shelters and those in need.

Chemsford Fireworks 2009

This years event was a real success, on the night over 5000 people turned out to see the best fireworks in town! We were very fortunate with the weather, a mild dry and clear night. The event has raised many thousands of pound for charity. We will be supporting many different charities this year especially J’s Hospice who very kindly helped steward the event. Thanks to Chelmsford CAMRA, all Tablers, 41 clubbers, Ladies’ Circle, friends, family and other community members who helped immensely in putting on the event. Thanks also to everyone who attended. Hope you had as great a time as we did. See you next year.

NSW 2009 Colchester

This weekend is the National Sporting Weekend at the University of Essex.

In addition to taking part in the sports and entertainment on Saturday a number of us are helping with the transport for the event, driving a mini-bus, co-coordinating the drivers and generally making sure things go to plan.

At the moment things are all running smoothly, more to follow as the weekend progresses.

Tour de Essex

After a last minute change of route due to the fact that no pub in Margaretting will serve food after 9pm! we ended up touring the delights of Broomfield and beyond. We stopped of two pubs on our travels for much needed refreshment before finally cycling back to the Angel pub in Broomfiled for a meal and further ale. I have heard since that a number of our attendees that night were nursing rather painful saddle sours the next morning. Well what do expect for not riding a bike in the last 10 years!!!….

Pitch and Putt

A fun and highly competitive night was had by all, Bob walked off with the highly contested title of Chelmsford Tindal Pitch and Putt Champion 2009. A title i am sure he is delighted with winning. After the pitch and putt the traditional post round curry and beer was enjoyed by all with some of us to able drown our sorrows of losing, in particular i had much to cry about after my 13 yes 13 at the very the last hole…!

Well done Bob!
